My Final Days

Hi I'm back and its still me, Michelangelo and I am going to tell you about the final days of my life. Let's begin!
The Commission
The idea of commissioning an enormous fresco, the largest ever painted in that Century, depicting the "The Last Judgment." I went to Rome and after two days, the current Pope died and his successor, confirmed the commision to me. The Last Judgment that I made in 1541 was the largest fresco in Renaissance, it depicts the Judgment Day. I portrayed all the figures naked and as time passes, cultural climate became more conservative. I painted my own image in a flayed skin of St. Bartholomew.
The Scandal
Even before its official unveiling, the judgment became the target of violent criticism of a moral character. Too good I'm not slow to take my revenge. They accused me of Heresy. These included Pietro Aretino, who, in a famous letter, even called for the fresco's destruction, the Dominican Preacher Ambrogio Politi and Giovanni Andrea Gilio.
My Love
In 1538, three years before finishing the Last Judgment, I had met Vittoria Colonna, a poetess and a highly cultivated woman who was one of the most influential figures in Viterbo Circle. Between me and Vittoria, age doesn't really matter. I was 61 and she's 46. A very deep and meaningful friendship have developed. One might say that its a pure LOVE, inspired by poetry and faith. Vittoria and I are so in love and the most intense part of our relationship was described in the Dialogues of Francisco de Hollanda which lasted in 1547 in Colonna's death. I made poems to her inspired by "Cruel and Beautiful" woman, seen in these verses as the object  an unattainable desire.
Me as an Architect
My crowning achievement as an architect was my work at St. Peter's Basilica wherein I was made as cheief architect in 1546. The building was being constructed by Donato Bramante's plan, but I was responsible in the altar end of the building on the exterior and for the final form when its done.
My Death
I died on February 18, 1564 because of a "slow fever." I am giving myself to God completely without hesitation. My last Will and Testament was in three sentences, " My soul to God. My body to Earth. My material possessions to my nearest relations."

Thank You for looking at my blog. Thats my story and I hope you understand my life at the time of the Renaissance.
